“His Needs/Her Needs”…a discussion on marriage by Steve & Jeannine McNeil

Jeannine and Steve have been married for 35 years.  They were high school sweethearts who met in Spanish class.  She was pep club president and he played varsity basketball.  Their spiritual journey began almost immediately as she began to influence him in a personal relationship with Jesus. After dating for 5 years, they were married and a couple of years later, God blessed them with Melissa. Just 3 years after that Michael was born.  They enjoy time today with family (kids & grandkids).

They have spent those same 35 years seeking to be in the center of God’s will for their lives and their marriage.  Two churches and their present ministry with The State Convention of Baptists in Indiana, they believe they continue to serve God’s purposes for their lives, which is to help people learn how to follow Jesus and how to love each other.

Jeannine and Steve will be sharing experiences from their own marriage and how they are learning to read each other’s “Love Language” to strengthen their marriage.  Make sure you invite a friend or two this week!!!

This week at Mom2Mom: Shannon Thalls

Shannon has been married to dear husband, Gary for sixteen years.  They have four beautiful children, Kortney (14), Jacob (deceased), Kami (10) and Brock (8).  Shannon is the director of Fairlawn Preschool in Columbus.  Shannon enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, gardening and being an encouraging mom at all of her children’s activities.

Shannon is going to speak about her own personal journey from grief to joy.  She will be sharing about the death of their son, Jacob.   How important it is as a mother to walk our children through the grieving process and allow them to grieve, but also talk to them about the hope we have in Jesus.  How sometimes out of the darkness of our lives great joy can come shining through and we can share that with others.

Our M2M childcare workers are such a blessing!

Grace Yeaton is 16 years old and is the oldest child of Steve and Cindy Yeaton. Grace has a 14 year old brother named Clay. Both are homeschooled. Grace’s favorite subjects are English and history. Grace enjoys running, reading (especially anything by Louise May Alcott), art, and her beagle (Charlie) that she bought with her own money when she was 7. She enjoys learning about the art of homemaking such as canning and sewing (so, if you enjoy this too, let Grace know because she’d love some tips). Grace accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was 8 and has been growing in her walk with Him ever since. She is active in the youth ministry at her church (Batesville Christian Church) where she also plays key boards for one of the worship teams. Since July of 2011 Grace has been working part-time at the Pizza Haus in Batesville. She also loves babysitting and has been watching kids of all ages since she was 12 after she took a class on babysitting offered at Margaret Mary Community Hospital. She looks forward to getting to know the kids she will be watching and teaching for Mom 2 Mom.

Amber Carr is an energetic and funloving wife and mother of 2 very sweet natured children.  When you meet Amber, you will quickly see the apples don’t fall far from the tree.  She is genuinely a very sweet natured woman.  She lives in Brookville, IN and attends the Oak Forest Church of Christ.  Amber feels blessed beyond reason to be able to homeschool her son, Jacob (10) and daughter, Jacey (8).  Her hobbies included spending time in the great outdoors, physical fitness and nutrition.  She loves to cook, eat and spend time with good friends.  She puts her whole heart into everything she does and is very compassionate.  Amber is a substitute teacher in Brookville, waitresses at Cracker Barrel in Harrison and also cleans homes on the side.  She is a very hardworker and doesn’t mind sweatin’ and gettin’ a little dirt under her nails.  She is certified in CPR, universal precautions and first aid and is very excited to be able to provide child care for our Mom2Mom ministry!

This week at M2M: Sarah Scharbrough (McLaughlin)

Throw in a little pop, a little jazz and blues, a little country, and a little gospel, and you begin to describe the eclectic mix that makes up Sarah Scharbrough’s piano-driven and soulful sound.  The journey started long ago when Sarah began singing and playing in her young childhood. As the daughter of two musicians, spending evenings on the piano playing and singing was a common highlight of family time. Building on this foundational love of music, Sarah combines a classical and jazz influence into a soulful mix.

Having worked with Grammy-award winning musicians, collaborating and sharing the stage with Bill and Gloria Gaither, Sandi Patty, Kurt Elling, Watermark, Jon McLaughlin, Avalon, Dierks Bentley and a slew of other impressive talents, Sarah’s songs have taken her around the world to jazz festivals, colleges, clubs, conferences, and churches, among other events.

Sarah has released 3 albums including “So Many Reasons”, “The Least of These”, and, most recently, “Draw Me Back”. She has also released a live concert DVD.  She has been the voice of commercial radio and television jingles ranging from Ford, Dodge, and New Balance to Cedar Point Theme Park and the Indiana Pacers.

Sarah has been married for ten years to the love of her life and her drummer/percussionist, Jeff McLaughlin.  Bringing them great joy and keeping them hopping are their two young children, Soren and Joseph.

Her songs will keep you grooving and resonate with your soul. This is what Sarah’s music is all about: singing the praises of real life—the life that you can feel down to your toes and the life that surpasses this present reality.

Sarah’s website can be visited at: http://www.sarahtunes.com

At Mom2Mom this Thursday, she will be speaking to us on “Finding the extraordinary within the ordinary life”.  You won’t want to miss hearing Sarah’s heart through her beautiful voice!!
