Next Friday we will have Dr. Jim Roberts, Superintendent of Batesville Schools and Chad Moeller, Principal, of St. Louis Catholic School at Mom2Mom to do a Q and A panel about our communities schools. We are very excited that these men have taken time out of their busy schedules to come sit down with us and answer our questions about the education that our children are getting here in Batesville!
As Superintendent, Dr. Roberts has been extremely involved in strengthening the health and well-being of the community through his participation in the Coalition of a Drug Free Batesville, Southeastern Indiana YMCA’s Community Partners, Team Batesville Running Club, and Girls on the Run Program. Additionally, he has spearheaded efforts to increase postsecondary opportunities for all BCSC students through a cooperative effort with Ivy Tech Community College, initiated a 1:1 technology program for grades K-12, and implemented a Global Immersion Program that allows for student and teacher exchanges with sister schools in other countries.
Dr. Roberts serves on the Board of Directors for Margaret Mary Community Hospital, as the Scholarship Committee Chairperson for the Rural Alliance for the Arts, as the Farm/City Program Director for the Kiwanis Club of Batesville, and as the President of the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce. He has been a state and national presenter in the area of Coordinated School Health Programs, received an Indiana State Department of Health Wellness Champion Award in 2011, was a Finalist for the 2013 Governor & Cheri Daniels School Health Award, and was the 2013 Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents District VIII Superintendent of the Year.
Dr. Roberts received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN and his Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He is married to Diana, a grade 2 teacher at Batesville Primary School, and they have three daughters, Rylie, Regan, and Rashel.
Dr. Roberts has also invited the Batesville Schools IT Director, Jackie Huber, as well so she can answer questions about the new iPads that the students received this year!
Mr. Moeller received his Bachelor’s from the University of Dayton and his Master’s from Ball State University. After spending several years as a graphic designer, he has been in the field of education for 21 years and has been St. Louis Schools’ Principal for the past 9 years. Chad is married to Paulla and has two daughters, Annie (12) and Lizzy (19).
Missy Cooper, Kindergarten teacher at St. Louis, will be accompanying Mr. Moeller on Friday as well. She was herself a St. Louis student, then attended Oldenburg Academy and went on to degree at Ball State University. She has 20 years teaching experience in both K and 1st grade. Missy is married to Tim and has two children: Gabby (17) & Gus (14). Please bring questions ready for this panel. It will be a great day!
We also plan to have a discussion group of home school Moms ready to share ideas with each other if these other schools do not apply to you and your family.
